CIRAD: The IPCC on food? Focus on HPLE, a group of international experts on food safety

The well-known IPCC brings together scientific knowledge from around the world around climate change. It is on the basis of its summaries and scenarios that international climate negotiations are then based. For food security, a similar institution exists: the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN). Discreet and completely independent, the HLPE has already provided some twenty reports since its creation in 2010. Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann, the current president, and Patrick Caron, CIRAD researcher and president of the HLPE from 2015 to 2019, shed some light.
