Faced with the climate emergency, the increasing irregularity of agricultural seasons and an increased demand for quality seeds, agricultural systems in West Africa need to accelerate their development. One of the most powerful levers to achieve this is the modernization of varietal selection, which is essential to enable national programs to respond more appropriately to a varietal demand targeted to market needs and to gain efficiency in the development of resilient, productive varieties of good nutritional quality, adapted to their environment.
