The Importance of the Private Sector for the Development of African Agriculture

Established in 2021, Agriculture-Livestock-Fisheries-Africa (ALFA) is a coalition of around a hundred agribusinesses aiming to foster Franco-African collaborations to address the challenges faced by the continent, particularly in the field of agri-food issues.

Its Secretary-General, Jean-Marc Gravellini, believes that privately originated agricultural projects should receive public funding to expedite the achievement of goals related to nutrition and health.

The expected doubling of the population will intensify pressure on states and their sustainable objectives. The private sector is poised to provide solutions for agricultural productivity, training, and the enhancement of value chains.
