SSOAR: Poverty, Food Insecurity and Malnutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa

In the twenty-first century, Africa has some of the highest rates of hunger and malnutrition in the world. FAO and WFP reports indicate that an acute food crisis is emerging in at least 27 countries. Poverty and malnutrition result, inter alia, from rapid and uncontrolled population growth, inefficient agricultural and industrial practices, and the heavy debt burden of many African countries.
