Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

The global cocoa market, marked by three years of deficit, could experience a surplus of 142,000 tons in the 2024/2025 season, according to the International Cocoa Organization (Icco). The improvement is attributed to an expected increase in production, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire (1.85 million tonnes) and Ghana (600 000 tonnes), boosted by high prices encouraging producers to invest more in the sector.

Despite these optimistic forecasts, some analysts remain cautious, pointing to uncertainties about the Ivorian harvest and the possibility of a new deficit. The situation therefore remains mixed, with the outlook for a surplus, but persistent doubts about real production. In addition, Icco anticipates a 4.8% drop in global crushing to 4.65 million tonnes of cocoa during the season due to high costs for processors.
