Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

School meal programs feeding 418 million children have created about 4 million direct jobs worldwide. They also require massive amounts of food, promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. The Rockefeller Foundation is investing $100 million to provide more nutritious meals to 100 million children in more than a dozen countries, using local produce grown through regenerative methods. These initiatives aim to promote the consumption of micronutrient-rich and resilient crops such as millet, teff (an ancient grain from the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea) and sorghum, while attracting funding for regenerative agriculture, which remains underfunded. Investing in school meals using regenerative products can encourage financing and the development of sustainable agricultural markets. Malnutrition costs an estimated $3 trillion each year in direct health costs and lost productivity.
