The African Fertilizer Financing Mechanism has received a $7.3 million funding from Canada to enhance agricultural productivity in Africa, focusing on fertilizer access, agricultural sustainability, and empowering smallholder farmers, including women and youth.

Dubbed the FOSTER Program, this funding targets 800,000 smallholder farmers in Africa. Its aim is to increase yields by 30% through the provision of 80,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

The Foster Program aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Malabo Declaration.
