A recent study published in the journal Nature Scientific Reports details the use of satellite data and machine learning to map land use diversity following deforestation in Africa. The study highlights the primary causes of deforestation and underscores the significance of such data for environmental planning. It identified 15 different land uses in Africa post-deforestation and the impact of human activities on deforestation and climate change. Agriculture, particularly commercial farming, was pinpointed as the leading cause of deforestation. The continued monitoring of this is crucial for land conservation and environmental planning strategies.
